Actually speaking, this classification is not accurate. Sometimes, some materials can be used in many places. Take stone for example. It can not only be used on the floor but also can be used on the ceiling. From this classification, we can see it is very hard to classify material clearly. Maybe the classification on basis of its physical or chemical properties is reliable. According to different physical and chemical properties, it can be separated into metal material, non-metal material, organic material or inorganic material. In addition, material can be grouped into various classifications according to functions, such as electric material, construction material, and energy material.
